This year, in honor of Veterans' Day, the sixth grade and their senior kindergarten buddies wrote letters of appreciation and well wishes to U.S. veterans. The letters will be mailed to the St. Louis V.A. Medical Center.
The buddy program is a beloved tradition and integral to fostering the unique close-knit community of Wilson. From special projects such as this one, to eating lunch together, to playing together on the playground, early childhood students and their upper school buddies learn from each other and form valuable friendships that last a lifetime.
The Wilson School motto is “Make Your Mark a Good One,” otherwise known as MYMAGO (my-ma-go). Each year, we choose a special theme of focus, such as “Gratitude.” Student assemblies and other activities take on this theme and each child receives a surprise MYMAGO T-shirt to wear throughout the year during schoolwide assemblies.
This year's MYMAGO theme is "Acts of Service." To kick off the year, all Wilson students and teachers participated in making a giant collage of helping hands illustrating what "Acts of Service" means in their lives. This work of art will hang in a prominent corridor of the school throughout the year.
