Kathleen Kavanuagh is a proud St. Louisan who taught literacy interventions in public schools prior to coming to Wilson in the fall of 2018. Kathleen is a Missouri-certified teacher for grades 1-6, with a Master’s Degree in education is from the University of Missouri, Saint Louis.
With a true passion in literacy, Kathleen’s teaching philosophy is rather simple. In her words, “I enjoy learning what student strengths' are and utilizing those strengths to make learning successful and fun. Learning is unique to each student, so it is my job to understand how they learn best, so that I may help them reach their goals. I also think the students are in charge of their own learning, so it is up to them to decide how they want to approach it. You will find me encouraging my students to use a ‘growth mindset,’ which will help them in more challenging times.” One of Kathleen’s favorite quotes is: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." - African Proverb In her free time, Kathleen likes to spend time with family, exploring new restaurants in St. Louis, hiking and reading. |
