WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE THE INFORMATION WE NEED FOR THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR?

A packet with important information about the school year is mailed in August. Be on the lookout for it. Access other important information from the Happenings and Parents sections on our web site.

WILL I BE CONTACTED BY MY CHILD’S TEACHER OVER THE SUMMER?

PK teachers conduct an information night for parents in mid-August at school. JK teachers mail information one week before the start of school. SK teachers send a letter to all parents in early to mid-August. Go to Happenings on our web site to learn more.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VISITING THE SCHOOL AND PARKING?

We enjoy having parents visit the school anytime. Please plan ahead with your child’s teacher for the most advantageous time to come. Check in at the Front Office. It is important we know who is in the building.

Teachers park on the south side of Fauquier Drive along the length of the school property and on DeMun Avenue directly across from the school. There is hour-long parking available for parents on the north side of Fauquier and on both sides of DeMun in the block between Fauquier and Wydown Blvd. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT’S COMING UP AT SCHOOL?

The weekly Friday Folder contains information of critical importance. You also receive an Annual Calendar in your August mailing, as well as monthly calendars. Access Calendar and Happenings on our web site to learn more about special events.

WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS?

The list is long! There are many volunteer opportunities in many different categories, and it is the “Wilson Way.” Go to Parents to learn more.

HOW OFTEN WILL I MEET WITH MY CHILD’S TEACHER?

Formal parent-teacher conferences are planned twice a year: October or November and March. If you wish to meet at any other time, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting. Our teachers are more than willing to do this. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

WHO WILL CALL ME WHEN MY CHILD IS HAVING TROUBLE?

When you have concerns about your child—academic or behavior—call the teacher and make an appointment to meet. The teachers will do likewise. Never let a problem grow out of proportion. Each situation is approached logically and reasonably and consequences are administered fairly. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

WHO WILL CALL ME WHEN MY CHILD IS HURT OR ILL?

In case of illness or injury, your child’s teacher, one of the administrators or the receptionist will contact you. If your child becomes ill or has a fever, we will make him/her as comfortable as possible until you or someone you designate comes to pick up your child. Instructions for emergency situations are required from all parents before the beginning of the school year and are recorded on an Emergency Card. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

WHAT KIND OF MEDICAL RECORDS DOES THE SCHOOL NEED FOR MY CHILD?

The state of Missouri requires that a complete and current list of your child’s immunizations be on file at Wilson by the first day of school. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

Fourth-grade through sixth-grade students may join the Wilson-Forsyth Instrumental Band. Lessons Unlimited offers private instrumental music lessons. Go to the Music section under Happenings on our web site to learn more.

WHAT OPPORTUNITY WILL THERE BE FOR MY CHILD TO BE INVOLVED IN TEAM SPORTS?

Team sports in soccer, basketball and baseball are available through the school and organized by Wilson’s Sports Coordinator. Parents also may become involved by signing up for a coaching position, which requires attending a coaching clinic. Go to the Sports section under Happenings on our web site to learn more about organized sports.

ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MY CHILD’S INVOLVEMENT IN AFTER- SCHOOL ACTIVITIES OTHER THAN MUSIC AND SPORTS?

Yes, we offer many different activities. The Director of Extended Day plans and offers many types of enrichment and recreational activities through WASA (Wilson After School Activities). Parents also form and become leaders of Girl and Boy Scout groups. Go to the Extended Day section under Happenings on our web site to learn more about Extended Day, WASA and extra-curricular activities.

I’VE ALREADY PAID TUITION, WHY SHOULD I DONATE TO ANNUAL GIVING?

Tuition is set at an amount lower than the actual cost of educating a student at Wilson. Parents are asked to make a tax-deductible annual giving gift to bridge this very real monetary gap. The amount of the gift is at your discretion. Some employers will match your annual giving gift through company matching grants. Our goal is that every child at Wilson School has a financial parent backer and that the school has 100% parent participation. Matching challenge grants from within the school community also help us reach our annual giving goal. Refer to the Development section in the Parent Handbook to learn more.

WHERE DO I GET ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ABOUT MY BILLING STATEMENTS AND TUITION PAYMENTS?

The Wilson School Director of Operations, Ms. Marsha Nahser, is available to answer your questions regarding tuition payments. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.

WHERE DO I TURN IN LUNCH AND MILK MONEY AND OTHER PAPERWORK?

Milk money, hot lunch payments and almost all forms are submitted to Ms. Ellen Hageman in the School Office. Refer to the Parent Handbook to learn more.
