Wilson’s academic expectations are high and age appropriate. We offer a safe and nurturing learning environment for every child. Our faculty and staff work hard to create an atmosphere where their students view all adults at the school as loving caregivers, positive role models and supportive mentors. Teachers help students explore, analyze, understand, and appreciate the world, as well as help them become responsible, active citizens of the 21st century. Teachers employ a number of strategies to engage the students actively in learning, such as appealing to multiple senses, using technology and initiating activities to encourage classroom participation. By the end of the sixth grade, our students have developed critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of subject matter. They have had many opportunities over the years to explore facts and concepts and have been encouraged routinely to explore and to express their creativity in every subject. They also have developed a strong sense of responsibility for their own and others’ well-being and an appreciation for diversity. Our sixth-graders leave Wilson with an outstanding academic education. |
