Student Council Wilson Community

I think the Student Council does terrific things for kids. It provides another way to grow, to develop, to mature—and a sense of what can be done on a larger scale . . . A Wilson parent

Students from the first through sixth grades elect representatives to the Wilson Student Council. Officers are elected from the fifth and sixth grades. The democratic process at Wilson is active with campaign posters and platform speeches. “It is something the students become excited about and truly enjoy,“ observed a teacher.

The Student Council is committed to making a difference in the local community. It has a long history of planning and holding fund-raising events to fulfill an important aspect of its mission: supporting organizations and institutions in the greater St. Louis area that work to improve the community or to help those in need.

The Wilson Student Council plays an active role in school life, putting on events such as the Fall Festival, a carnival for the entire school that serves as a fund-raiser for student-supported charities; a pumpkin sale; and the annual Talent Show. For Valentine’s Day, the Student Council sells and delivers “candy grams” to raise money. Over the years the Student Council has supported many charitable organizations, including UNICEF, Hosea House, the Animal Protective Association, the Salvation Army, Forest Park Forever, and Eagle Wing Ministries.
