As trustees, our overriding mission is to hold this wonderful school in trust for
our children’s children. This mission is vital to the future of Wilson . . .
Steven Goldstein, past president emeritus of the Board of Trustees
The Wilson School Board of Trustees is composed of current parents and
grandparents, alumni, parents and grandparents of former students, and
unaffiliated friends who willingly volunteer their wisdom, time and energy to
the school. Currently, the board has 18 voting members, the maximum number
according to the by-laws and five emeritus trustees. The Board of Trustees is
responsible for the governance of The Wilson School and establishes the
school’s fiscal and educational policies. It hires and evaluates only one
employee — the Head of School. The trustees are guided by the school’s mission
statement and the long-range strategic plan. Most of the board’s work is
accomplished through committees, and many trustees serve on two or three
committees. There are seven standing committees: Building and Grounds,
Development, Education, Finance, Long-Range Planning, Trustee Affairs, and
Tuition Assistance.
The Wilson School Board of Trustees is committed to maintaining academic
excellence, attracting and retaining outstanding teachers and administrators,
and promoting diversity in the student body, faculty, administration, and in
the board itself.
